Ok so in July .. the manufacturer warranty runs out on our 2011 Keystone Springdale. so I have a question for you all ... Would you immediately buy an extended warranty or would you wait a few years .. like 2 or 3 .. keep in mind that we are now full timing in the TT .. I know this will void the manufacturer warranty .. but I don't think it would void an extended ( checking into that now threw Good Sam ) ..
Just want to get your opinion on this subject .. Personally I think it would be good to buy it now .. however the wife wants to wait a few years ...

Would your wife pay the repairs between expiration and a few years?
My opinion -- unless you are prepared to pay potential expenses out of pocket, het a good extended warranty w.e.f. the date of expiration of the factory warranty. Read the fine print on what is actually covered. Look at Consumer Reports for your vehicle and see what the weak areas are and make sure the plan you get covers these. I have an extended warranty on my truck and on my Audi. The one on the Audi already paid for itself and then some. Have not had to use the truck's E/warranty yet since it is still under factory warranty.
The insurance company will invest your money and pay for the repairs out of their return and the price will be based on how long they have the money to invest. There's other variables involved, too, but in general it would seem to me that getting one a few years down the road should cost more per year than getting one now because they'll have the money for a lesser time and an older unit likely will have more repairs. But then you won't be paying the premium right away either. I think you should be able to price both options to get an idea which might work better for you.
I'm not a fan of extended warranties, especially on a non-motorized vehicle, my experience is that they benefit the seller much more so than the buyer. Personally, I set up an account and deposit money in it to pay for repairs, self insure so to speak. But if one wants one for peace of mind they need to read it like a lawyer for deductibles, caps, exclusions, etc. Many people have found an item they thought was covered wasn't because of subtle wording in the small print.
