We are in a 36ft Class A Fleetwood Fiesta with "Toad" in Vancouver around June then want to visit Yellowstone Park, Mount Rushmore, Utah, Denver back to the Grand Canyon then east eventually to Florida by October-November. We welcome suggested routes and RV Parks/Camps. We have two dogs. We would prefer not to dry camp for more than 2 days.

We stayed at the Horse Thief Campground. Nothing fancy, but a really great place to home base and see the area. Really nice people run this campground.

If you have kids with you, then Rafter J wins hands down. Lots for them and lots for you to do. Another is Custer State Park, but IMHO it's too far removed from all the action around Rapid City and surrounding area....we stayed at Rafter J for two weeks and found the sites were large, the pools were refreshing and the hospitality wonderful.....Dennis

We have been there 4 or 5 times and always go back.

I'll third the Rafter J. Fantastic place. The kids will love it and it's nicely located.

Closer to Rapid City, we stayed at Happy Valley, a Good Sam park. It was snowing and cold and we needed 50 amps to run extra heaters in the bays. (Everyone else was having freeze ups...) Anyway, the people were nice, the location worked for us, but it wasn't exceptionally beautiful.

Custer's Gulch is a very nice campground. Clean, fairly level and wide sites. Lotsa grass. Lotsa trees around the campground. Pet friendly. Convenient location. Easy access. We loved it.
