2nd time trying to post this, hope it dosen't duplicate. Pricing new 225/75/16's Michlein LTX. At two "national advertized" tire stores the printed quote always has a line for "road hazard" or words to that effect. Amounts to $28 per tire at one place. Really seems high, so I have them take that line out. Bottom line price at 3 locations so far are within a few dollars of each other. If something happens, it will always be away from home so am leaning to the national tire stores. So my question is for you new buyers, do you purchase this road hazard. For 6 tires this is $168 which will just about buy a nw tire anyway. Both outlets are giving a $70 rebate for 4 tires but they don't flinch when I ask for $105 because I'm buying 6. But it dosn't hurt to ask

"Road Hazard" covers flat repairs and damage to the tires due to "road hazards". Most places also will prorate a new tire if the original cannot be properly patched.
Without this coverage, you'd likely only be covered by "manufacturing defects".

Just as a side issue, you might want to be sure to get Michelin's new LTX "M&S" tire design - the M&S 2. Some dealers may want to sell you Michelin's older design M&S tire (without the "2" designation).
I installed six new Michelin LTX tires last June and had to specifically request that the dealer order and install only LTX M&S 2 tires.
The M&S 2 tire not only has a new interior construction, it's longevity warranty is also 10K miles higher.

I was talked into purchasing a tire insurance from Discount Tire and used it on two tires within the first year. That was years ago and I have always purchased it since. I purchased a toad and took it to Discount Tire to have tires balanced and they asked if I would like to purchase insurance on the tires. I did. Later that week I took the car into Goodyear to have them do a front end alignment and when road tested they found the tires to be out of round. I took the car back to Discount Tire and told them what Goodyear said. They replaced all 4 tires. I believe in tire insurance and Discount Tire. Also, what load range are you getting? I have a coachmen that says my tired are D load but the tires are E load and I have been told that I should get better gas milage if I inflate to 80 pounds.

I am a strong believer in Michelin LTX's and in Discount Tire. I have over 100K miles on my rig and am on my third set of LTX's; original Ford OEM's plus 2 sets I bought at Discount. They have also put tires on my Jeep, pickup truck, and wife's car.
I have always purchased the road hazard insurance and have used it 3 times, but never on the motorhome.

Op here. Discount Tire web site shows two LTX's one is $208 and the other is $218, so guess the LTX 2 is the pricer one. However they both show as 60,000 mile.

Something's funny here ... the set of six LTX M&S 2 tires we had mounted on our Class C motorhome last summer carry a Michelin warranty of 70,000 miles. The dealer made a point that Michelin's previous LTX M&S only had a 60,000 mile warranty.
The higher warranty probably indicates a design for the M&S 2 that is improved over the previous M&S design. As I understand it, the original M&S design is about 20 years old.

I have LTX M/S2's on my F150. Great tire and got them from Discount Tire. Got 72k miles out of the previous set of LTX's on this 4wd truck. Definitely recommend the road hazard if you plan to put many miles on them. Due to liability reasons, the tire shops are getting more and more particular about what is acceptable for repair for even simple nail/screw punctures. Just had to replace a Michelin Latitude on our toad that had only 4k miles because of a screw in the tread area but too close to the edge (still an inch in from sidewall). I should have purchased the extra road hazard on this new vehicle from the dealer. Cost me $195 for the replacement tire.
