boy sure look like a lot of carbon on one piston compaired to the other. Looks like some of the cylinders were not running as good as the others.

Just curious. How many miles do you have on that engine?

My advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

I would be interested in hearing from Mr. Wolfe on this issue if he is available.

Man that piston is bad! I am surprised they are not replacing the liners. The head looks good though. I hope your up and going soon.

I thought the Cummins B5.9 was not a lined engine. They probably were able to clean up the cylinders by honing, thus the.012 oversize pistons mentioned earlier.

Okay, 14 pages and no answer as to what caused the overheating? I'm with whoever suggested changing the inj's. I'd be checking that head for warp.

If you read the whole thread he says several times his plastic overflow tank cracked and he lost all his coolant

If you crack an overflow the only water you will loss is the overflow. That would not cause overheating. Something had to cause all the water to be pushed into the overflow tank(extreme high temp or high pressure from blown head gasket) more then likly the tank broke from the high pressure.
