Pulling my 5th wheel trough the mountains I have had it jump into limp mode several times. I am using a H&S mimi maxx chip, I can clear in with the diagnostics on it, I think it will also clear if I turn the engine off for 60 sec and restart. Is their anyway to prevent this from happening? I was told the computer though the transmission slipped and through it into limp mode? Any advice would be appricated.

If it thinks it slipped then it probably did. You may wan't to look at some upgrades to the Allison before it gets really spendy.

Why dont you check with the H&S mimi maxx chip manufacturer? I am sure they can help with their chip.

If it went into limp mode, said it slipped, it did. Allison's are good tranny's, but when you chip the truck for more HP, you need to beef up the Allison or you will end up replacing it. A new Allison will run you $7-8K installed, so I would upgrade it if it is not to late.

I see you have posted your issue over at the Diesel Place. Those boys in that forum will hopefully have a solution for you.
On a side note, I always find it interesting why someone needs to chip their Duramax.

Welcome to the Forum...your first post.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but I have always felt that if you "chip," you will eventually pay the price.
My advice, pull the chip.
Others, of course, have a different opinion.

The reason I chipped was to improve fuel economy, I get not pulling, running at 65 MPH 23 miles to the gallon, pulling I get between 13 and 14 at the same speed. Running 40 or 50 K year this adds up to more than the price of a transmission. However, I am going to look into upgrades. Thanks for the advice. JRP

Return motor to stock and check your fluid in the tranny.

I have a customer with a chipped dmax that was going into limp mode when towing. We finally narrowed it down to fuel starvation. After adding an electric fuel pump it no longer has a problem.
