Hello, I am so glad I came across this wonderful RV community. I have been reading for some time and thought to join in. My husband and I will be purchasing out first travel trailer within the next few weeks. We have our eye on one that is really appealing to us. I’m just not sure if this trailer would be a good paring with our TV. Perhaps some of you experienced RVer’s could give us some thoughts on this TV and TT combo. Our TV is a Ford 150 ecoboost screw with max tow pkg ( not Payload pkg) 5.5 box with a 3.73 rear end. The trailer we would really like to buy is a Evergreen I-GO 239BH The spec’s of the trailer are 4820 dry weight, dry hitch weight 515 GVWR 6195 length bumper to hitch 27.3 and 7.7 wide. We plan to purchase the equalizer hitch and a solar panel system. We live on Vancouver Island and Plan to travel Washington, Oregon Coast, San Juan Islands. Just a couple of other things. We have a canopy on the truck, a child and a 200 pound mastiff that will be traveling with us. Did I mention we are scared as hell to tow but really looking forward to it to.

With a 200lb Bull Mastiff in the car...make sure you SHOW NO FEAR!! The last think you want to do is get the dog all anxious.
I hope Skip ( SKIPNCHAR ) will chime in...He's got the Ecoboost...and pulls a 34' TT. I think you're gonna like your planned rig.
Just remember...if something doesn't feel right --- It's probably not. So stop and get advice. With a good weight distributing hitch...your TT should pull like a dream.
Good luck and enjoy!!!

With a properly setup Equal-i-zer hitch, I think it would tow well.

Mastiff mama,
Your truck is up to the task. Question is.., are you? I understand a little anxiety but sounds to me like you are working yourself all up for nothing. Yes caution should be used but it's really that not that worrysome. You'll know the TT is back there and with a little discretion in turning and ascendin & descending hills I think you will be fine. For turning, make your turns wider for the TT to clear the curb on right turns and for left just give yourself a little more room in turns. Climbing & descending hills, take your time and use your gears. Don't be in a hurry. The only other thing is learning to back it up and that comes with practice. Everybody that comes on this forum that tows anything had to learn and you will do fine too.
Does that TT have a horse section?

Looks good to me! Have fun.
As far as the scared to hell comment. That is not good. Being scared doing anything causes mistakes.

My daughter & SIL have 2 of the English Mastiffs. They love to go camping. The biggest danger from them is getting drowned in the constant drool. They had bunks in the TT and the dogs each get a bunk. Low bunks, not high ones.

We travel with a 185lb English Mastiff and a 60lb Pitbull. They are perfect campers! Don't make the mistake of traveling with your dog in the trailer, they belong in the TV-with the rest of the family!

You will be fine, as long as you do get the equalizer hitch, you might find that it will tow more comfortably as well if the water tank is full. My 27ft years ago towed so much better with water, the tank was in the front 12 feet or so.. As far as the hitch goes the front should be perfectly even with the truck. I cant recall all the times I have seen TT in the air while towing..Don't try to attach the chains with the trailer off the jack, (will rip your arm off) once distributor hitch is attached Then lower the TT.
