Who here knows where I can go and read what are the maximum length when towing from Province to Province and from State to State. Mostly Manitoba west to BC in Canada and South down to Arizona/Califorina in the USA. We live in Alberta and want to tow a 20 foot cargo trailer behind our 37 ft Class A Motorhome. Help anyone.
Please and Thanks in advance.

Maryland,D.C. and West Virgina have the shortest Maximum Combined length of 55 feet. Not sure if they have reciprocation. Never seen a sign at border entrance either. Maybe the law applies to vehicles registered in that state. Just my two cents...

It's not controlled by any state, its a DOT federal program and I think you will find 65' from stem to stern.

The Feds MIGHT control lengths on the Interstates, but if you plan to get off those for, say, fuel or something, every State has different length limits.

Best thing is to check with individual States/Provinces, but here's a pretty good (U.S.) breakdown.

The referenced list is rather nice, and easy to find things in, but, at least in the case of Montana, slightly inaccurate: "maximum combined length for three vehicles 65 ft."
NO! That is the maximum length for a combination of vehicles consisting of a towing vehicle and ONE trailer. The maximum allowable length for a towing vehicle and TWO trailers is 75 feet in Montana. (EDIT: See MCA 61-10-104 and 61-10-124)
Now, if the list is inaccurate in that instance, where else is it inaccurate? Can it be trusted AT ALL??

Federal guide lines
Only interstates and designated (Resonable Access) interstate access highways. The designated interstate access routes are listed in the Rand McNally Federal Motor Carrier Map Guide. The states do control length and width on all other state controled highways and it is listed in their laws. State length and width laws even applies on highways carrying the "U.S. route" designation. A example of the U.S. route designation is U.S. Route 62 which runs all the way from the Canadian border at Niagara Falls, NY to the Mexican border at El Paso, Texas. It is skinny, curvy, and narrow in many places, and is not appropriate for a 45 foot long, 102 wide motor coach with a long enclosed trailer.
