Hi
I am de-winterizing my camper to get ready for our Memorial weekend camping trip and I can not get the hot water to to pressurize properly. Cold side not a problem, furthermore when I use the hot water bypass or shut off the hot water side works fine, of course it not running through hot water heater. I have bled and re-bled off the air, to no avail. The water heater is an Atwood model MPD 93756. It does make hot water just fine however. It's like it is getting an air lock. Also I have looked and can find no sign of any leaks or air getting into the system

Any one have any experience with this?

Sounds like you have a bad check valve in the hot water line leaving the water heater.

+ 1 relatively simple (depending on access to back of water heater). Valve should be less that $10.

Thanks guys, why do these check valves typically go bad. and if bad would I be able to get water pressure from the hot water tank by engaging the hot water bypass running water to the faucets and then opening hot water bypass at which point I get pressure through the hot water tank for a while then back to no pressure?

Thanks to you both.

Take the bad one apart and you will see the flimsy plastic valve inside. The seat part will break off the stem and just sit there. Depending on its position will determine the water flow if any. Sometimes you can hear it chatter.

An update to thank both rv2go and Beverley&Ken for your spot on diagnoses of my lack of pressure in the hot water side. It was the bad check valve.
Thanks!

Todd
