We need to have an air card for our upcoming trip of 4 months with unlimited usage. We do not want to be locked into a contract as this 4 months will be all we need it for the year..so we are looking for a month-to-month pay.
Three years ago we had a T-Mobil card that we had access to wherever we went and for any amount of usage. It did have a years contract and they waived the charge for the card. We still have the card.
We were interested in Virgin, but the comments on RV Net were negative - so they are out.
We have our cell service through AT&T, but all three stores in our area had differing offers and non were satisfactory.
Can anyone suggest a company that might offer us what we want OR something similar.

I have a Sprint card that I have had for 22 months. It originally was an unlimited card until Sprint changed the rules (no grandfather deal here). I am currently in an area that Sprint serves well and the air card is my only internet access and I quickly used up the 5gb limit. I refused to change the plan to more because I don't want a new 2 year contract. So.....
I signed up with millenicom as stated above. They have an "unlimited" plan and it comes with a Sprint 250U card just like I had for my existing Spring service. The speed of either one is virtually identical.
The unlimited plan with millenicom is actually a 50gb plan. The state on the site that if you go over 50gb they will be looking at your and potentially terminate your service.
But it is working as well as Sprint in the same area. You do have to buy the card however. They have a plan where you can use an existing card as long as it is compatible with their system and it is currently inactive. I couldn't use that plan since my current Sprint card is still alive, at least until the middle of July when I will cancel it.

Make sure Virgin has coverage where you need it. Virgin subscribers do not have access to parent company Sprint's roaming partner's towers.

Air cards are only as good as the parent coverage. Read the fine print real well. Most 2nd tier companies do NOT allow partner coverage, off the parent towers. Millenicom is the only one that does, on their 20g Verizon plan, that I am aware of. I don't know if they have that arrangement with Sprint. Another option is Clear, a partner of Sprint and the company that holds their 4G license.
Check the coverage map real well for the areas you plan on being in, as at least 25% of the US has no cell coverage and Sprint is about the worst for limited coverage out of the urban areas. We have both a Clear 3/4G Sprint card and a Millenicom 3G Verizon card, plus our Motosat Internet system. In our area, ATT is the predominant carrier, Verizon a close 2nd and Sprint a very distant 3rd.

If you are going to be traveling cross country then Verizon cell towers are the only way to go. They have the best coverage by far. For that reason we use a Verizon 760 modem and just fund it each time we go out. Not the least expensive way to go but coverage is way, way better than any other carrier.

Verizon does have daily and monthly plans without contracts. Not cheap. We have the Verizon hotspot Mi-Fi and have used it all over the USA with no problems. If we have a cell signal on our phone we have internet. Verizon no longer has unlimited plans but they do have shared tiered plans.

2GB Monthly Data Allowance is only $30 prepaid.
5GB Monthly Data Allowance is $50 prepaid.
