some cummings models fuel pump get to much juice and will just shut off. This happen several times with us, Cummings has a reducer , very easy to put on. I would call them and ask if this could be the case , order it and they will stay on the line with you to help install it.

It happened in the little town of Gold Bar Wa, highway 2, we had just run Stevens pass both ways no problems.
Even though it is a mechanical engine it probably has an electric throttle. Can't see it having a mechanical throttle in a rear engine. That would likely be something to check.
