I just did a 2500 mile trip in my truck not towing and out of curiosity kept track of the mileage ( something i dont normally do ). I drive relatively fast 75-85 and had one tank that was 6mpg less than the others. I can only account for that as being poor fuel quality. In the past in other trucks i have seen 1-2 mpg difference between fuel stations but never this big of a difference. The worse tank by the way was from Flying J in Wells NV.

Tell me more.

Is it gas?

Diesel?

Ethanol?

Biodiesel?

Once you get into solid medium duty area (you are in it), the arguments for diesel is compelling.

There are no gasoline heavy duty trucks for a reason.

Direct injection gasoline of the V-10 with a turbo might change that in a few years --- but we are not there yet.

2011 GMC 4wd crewcab dually dsl First tank was G diesel of which when i use regulary i get better mpg with less regens. I havent calc'd all the tanks so far but one tank in Jackson Hole Wy was B10. I will get out the reciepts and calc it all. The B10 tank wont representive of the rest as it was slow going through Teton and Yellowstone. I'm a believer in the G diesel as it has proven itself http://www.advancedrefiningconcepts.com/index.html

I went through all the reciepts and the mileage and had made an error. Low of 15.4 to a high of 19.2 mpg Most of em were in the 16 range Pretty good for 9k lbs of truck and people at 75+ mph most of the time.
