New to class A forum from the class C. Got our unit two weeks ago(2012 mirada 34bh). Live in FL but now in MD to help son after back surgery. After a week being parked and leveled, notice hydraulic fluid in one of the leveler pads. We'll be here at least two more weeks to help, so need advice on what to do. They call me "thumbs". Son can do anything, but not in his condition. Can we just add fluid before we leave and get it looked at back in FL? Will levelers still work? Any advice from the vast knowledgeable audience is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, GTP

Usually the levelers will retract even if the system is low; they may not be happy about being extended. My suggestion is to try to lift them; if they come up just leave them that way until you get back home. If they don't want to retract you have time to get someone to put fluid in just to bring them up. You don't need to use the levelers when you park; most sites are level enough that it won't really matter. You have to be pretty far off level for it to affect your refrigerator.

Is the unit under warranty? Call the factory to see if there is a local shop in MD. If it is a small leak it should not be a problem to wait until you get back in Florida.
Look at the owner's manual, mine states to check the fluid when they are retracted. Follow directions and keep the fluid full and you should not have any trouble getting home.

Do not add fluid to the jacks when they are down. Only fill the resivour when the jacks are stored.
Look and see if you can see where the fluid is leaking from, could be just a loose hose connection. If so, just snug it up a little, Don't do a "HULK" tightining.

Fluid in the pads usually indicate that the ram seal of that jack is seeping. If it is not that much fluid leaking I would suggest that you can probably wait until you get back to florida. I would also suggest that in the mean time that you wipe the jack ram/all rams clean with a rag and then get some clear silicone spray and spray the rams and then retract the jacks and then extend them and spray again and then retract them again. This just might rejuvenate the leaking seal temporarly. If it still leaks, just retract the jacks and don't use them until you get back to florida and get it repaired. By the way to check the fluid level all jacks have to be retracted and then add fluid until you reach the full level. By the way what brand levelers do you have? Power Gear or HWH or other brand, might help you get other solutions to the problem.

Be sure you have the jacks raised before you add fluid. You could overfill the reservoir if the jacks are down. They probably take ATF if it looks red or AW 32 hydraulic oil if it is clear.

thanks for the replies. We are at his house and the driveway is sloped, so if we don't use the levelers, we'll need to build up the front end with boards (which we have). Will let you know what we decide (raining now, will try to look under later).
