I have a 2 1/2 inch and a 2 inch receiver on my truck. The 2 1/2 inch is below the 2 inch. Would you use the torklift extension with the double 2 inch bars and use a adapter in the 2 1/2 inch receiver or would you use the 2 1/2 inch single bar that is sold for trailers.

The length of extension required and what you are pulling will dictate which is best.

Need 48" length and will be pulling an 18 foot Stingray boat on occasion and also a 6 x 10 utility trailer with some tools in it

Sight unseen, I'm going to say that 48" automatically calls for a 2 1/2" extension. Can we see a picture of how these 2 hitches are working together?

I would use the torklift extension with the double 2 inch bars and use an adapter in the 2 1/2 inch receiver. What hitch do you have that has two different size receivers? Answered my own question - you must be running the Magnum model.

I would think someone installed your hitch upside down. The 2 1/2 is supposed to be on top.

I have a factory 2" hitch on top. I also have a CURT class V on the truck it is designed to mount right below the factory 2" hitch which it does. I can use either a 2" receiver or a 2 1/2 inch receiver. That is why the question about the extension bar. What is best?

Mine's 2 and 2. The top one is the receiver, the bottom is the "stiffener". If that's the case and you had to use a spacer, the stiffener is probably the better.

With that being the case, I would get the 2 1/2 inch super truss and when assembling it put the 2 inch stiffening tube on top of the 2 1/2 inch tube.

I have the same hitch set-up and use a Reese Titan 2 1/2" extension into the Curt receiver.
