My wife and I are working a camp host position until Labor Day. Since we are sitting until Sept should we periodically pull our slides in and then put them back out or just let them stay out until we leave?
Please feel free to offer any advice or comments as we are new to all of this. Thanks.

I sit for months at a time and exercise the slide every couple weeks.

Since 2001, we have parked for the winter for 3-4 mos at a time - this past year for 6 mos - do not "exercise" the slide at all. (we've had both a 5ver & MH in this time) That is not to say it may not be brought in/out for another reason a couple of times, but rarely. Never had any slide problems.

When we volunteer for 3 - 4 months, we leave the slides out.

We left the slides out in Corpus Christi this past winter from December through April, their longest stay. Kept meaning to undo the slide jacks and run them every month (which turned into we'll do it next month, etc.). Got ready to leave and the motor had frozen. $800 later, we learned our lesson. Exercise is a good thing.

After ten years of fulltiming, I would strongly recomend you exercise your slides, jacks and anything else you don't use. I know sometimes it seems a hassle to move things around, I have seen plenty of bad results and I know others who have not had problems.

Here is how I would tackle this issue. I would leave the slides out until a week before we break camp for the season. At that point I would run each slide in and out. That way I have a week to figure out why the one slide won't retract and have time to repair it. Can you tell I've had trouble in the past?
