Hi Everyone... Headed to a new place this coming holiday weekend and was just wondering if anyone from here had ever been there before?

It was a last minute reservation and after searching every state park in PA and NY and some other surrounding states - I was lucky enuff to find ONE campsite left at this COE Campground on Cowanesque Lake, so I grabbed it. Now looking for any info on the place. It's just south of the NY border..(south of Corning, NY) in Tioga, PA.
It's actually right near another COE Campground.. Ives Run, which I know I've seen some folks mention before.

Anyway.. just wondering how are the campsites?
Wildlife issues.. such as bear problems, etc? I know some parks and cgs have quite a bit of a problem with bears. Hoping this is not one of them.. LOL
Things to do in or near the campground? Good for biking?
How's the trails... or swimming beach, etc?

Any info or tid-bits anyone can give is always very appreciated!!
Thanks!

SAFE & HAPPY TRAVELS!

Found some great very positive reviews on this place on RVparkreviews.com site.. so that makes me feel good.
But what I also forgot to ask about is the nearest grocery or convenient store nearby to this campground? If anyone has any idea? Seems like we will be kinda out in the middle of nowhere and I like to have some idea of where to go if we need something.

Thanks again for any input you guys can provide.

Great area to be in. Wellsboro is 1/2 hour away with a ton of stuff. Train ride, shopping, Pine Creek valley. Just look up visittiogapa.com or Wellsboro.web. Trails around lake, old town area by cemetary, good fishing.

We stay there or Ives Run each year on our yearly trek to NYS. Both are nice CGs and well maintained. You can't go wrong with any COE park. Plus with geezer pass we get camping half price.

Thank you! I will see what Lawrenceville has, since that would be the closest in a pinch. Appreciate the info.

Didn't realize it was only 1/2 hour away from the Lake! I will def scan the town/area for some things to do. The kids LOVE trains.. and we all love an 'old town' atmosphere.
I assume the trails, cemetery, and fishing are in reference to the campground/lake area itself... or are u talking about in Wellsboro?
I love to explore and check out old cemeteries... something about the old gravestones and the stories they tell.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Okay... quick question!
Someone told my hubby that there are NO modern bathrooms/bathhouses at this campground ~ IS THIS TRUE?!?!?! If this is the case - I may be cancelling our reservations. I didn't even think to doublecheck, as I know COE campgrounds are almost always modern and very nice - like a state park, but nicer. lol

Hubby was told they only have a pit toilet. With 3 little kids ~ I like to have a regular bathhouse to use, as well as showers, etc... esp after swimming in the lake, etc. Now I am freaking out a little.... can anyone shed some light on this for me? Please tell me there are regular modern bath houses here!!!

Sorry for the many posts -- coming up with questions as they hit me. LOL

Firewood? Is there a campstore or someplace to buy firewood at, if we should run out?
