There was previously a topic about spot free rinse devices.

It was here: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/25823210.cfm
The person who started the post could not remember how he made his and referred everyone to the waterstick web site. My problem with that is that they wanted $170 for their product. I set out to make my own, for a lot less money.
Here is what you will need:
- a two foot section of 1 inch PVC
- two short pieces of 3/4 inch PVC
- two sets of 1 inch to 3/4 inch reducers (2 pieces for each end..see the pictures)
- a 3/4 inch to male hose connector
- a 3/4 inch to female hose connector
MAKE SURE THE MALE AND FEMALE CONNECTORS ARE HOSE COMPATIBLE, NOT A FITTING FOR A PIPE.

If you look at the pictures, it will become apparent how the whole thing goes together. The parts cost me about $10 total. I bought the resin beads from Aquascape. Aquasafe

Looking at both threads, I still don't understand what keeps the resin beads in the tube. I'm interested in using such a device for the washdown of our boat after every use with our hard well water.

Thanks

You put a fine sprayer on one end, which has a mesh screen on it. You can also get a washer with a screen on it from many home supply stores for the other end.

One thing I failed to mention is that your best bet for finding the needed supplies is to go to a plumbing supply store. The big stores (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) don't have a clue about how to help you....... if you can even find anyone to talk to.

I did a bunch of research on building a water softener and discover that if you want to keep the resin beads inside the assenbly, you might as well buy the real thing, cause it will cost you almost as much to build a proper working one! So I went out and brought the real deal. Got the FlowPur Mark 8000.

Dave, why did you choose a 1" section of PVC.....the Waterstick site shows theirs to be a 3". Does it make a difference....if not, why not simply use 3/4 PVC end to end.....finally, Waterstick uses two types of resins inside their product. Does the Aquascape product do the same as both of theirs....Thanks for taking the time to post...saving money is good........Dennis

and if I could add after washing take your leaf blower and get rid of the water spots all together. I put an extension on mine and hardly any water is left on the coach and it shines like new. Larry

I am glad to hear that. Their customer service needs a LOT of work.
