Not RV'ing, but we used to backpack / canoe camp.

We were prepping for a trip and DW asked "Do you have toilet paper?" to which I replied "Yes."
What I thought she meant was "Do you have toilet paper for yourself?" What she really meant was "Do you have enough toilet paper for the both of us?"

It was close but we made it.

Our camp chairs for around the fire. Not once, but twice! it is now a running joke that we dont pack chairs we just go to walmart and buy new ones. We now have enough chairs for everyone in our famly and a few other families.
I now have a list saved on my computer and I just add or subtract things before our first camping trip of the year.

I don't forget them from home. I leave behind my little treasures as I travel and camp!

Power surge cord ~ CG in Alabama
New sewer adapter ~ CG in Kentucky
My favorite robo grip pliers ~ CG in Wisconsin

A second pair of robo grip pliers and brand new jumbo screwdriver I use to turn the darn Blue Ox tow bar to center both left on the bumper ~ lost somewhere on the road between Georgia and Florida!

I cant out do the boat motor but I did leave all the high test fuel for the Dune Buggy and all the ATVs that was mixed and in fuel cans setting on the driveway when we pulled out at 3am to get to the desert before the rest of group and set up camp.
Lucky for me one of the group overslept and was able to stop by my house and get the fuel,or it would have been a bad week in the Baja.
You cant get that stuff where we were going.
