I deal with Solid Signal and get emails from them when new stuff comes out. You can have it overnighted if need be.

You can put a Wanted to Buy ad on Craigslist instead of waiting for one to be listed.

Call Direct TV and see if they have an installer in the area, they have dishes on their trucks, that's where I bought mine.

There will be several "independent" sat dealers in your area, I think someone already posted a list.

A local scrap metal dealer, that's were my old dishes wound up.

If you like free, freecycle is where I would try. There is always lots of useful items that people don't want to throw away.

You might try Goodwill or a Salvation Army store.
A lot of installers do have old 18 in dishes hanging around that they sell cheap or even give away.

I used to have a tripod just like that. It did the job but one comment...

Big dish and small tripod means its not very stable in strong wind. Tie it down well. A bucket or some old milk jugs full of water work. The ground stakes work if you have solid ground to put them in.

When they fall mine always seem to go forward and land on the LNB.

I bought an app on my iPhone called Dishpointer. It made setup practically plug and play. It uses the camera on the phone to simulate where the satellites are in the sky... Just level and point in that general direction and fine tune using the tone of the receiver box. Once I bought the app, I was watching tv in less than 5 minutes once the stations were loaded.
