Pulled it one trip on the Alaska Hwy and then around the state for a couple of summers. In the early 80s, 1981 or 82, we moved it to our river front property, just upstream on the Kenai Rive, a mile of so above Soldotna Alaska.
Here was another fall or early spring photo of my wife at the Red Dale.
It seems ORANGE was the "in" color of the time, LOL!
Garry, What would you like more pics of, the doors, or the whole project in general? I have several more pics on photobucket, and some still on my camera. I also have an attempt at a blog, that shows some of the Restoration.
Just curious to the overall project, as I am still working on the interior of my 1966 Avion, and like to get other ideas.

Ahhh...Obviously in the midst of major reconstruction of your Red Dale.
You should add your blog link to your signature... (id also pick a forum-make future posts there or a running thread so folks interested could follow along). Ya folks enjoy watching others work & pics of effort.
Thats quite a project!
Thank you all for your comments and interest, I am adding my blog address to my signature. I will start postting my progress on this website and show some previous restoration I have been doing on the camper.
Judy and I owned a Red Dale 5er way back in the 1980's. I had a lot of problems controlling the plumbing leaks. They used the grey fittings that leaked constantly. Also, the floor was made of particle board that eventually turned into sawdust. But the interior decor was first class and and the cabinets were constructed of real wood. For being heavy unit, it pulled exceptionally well.

Dick this camper came equiped with all copper plumbing, though I have had to fix a few leaks in the past. It also has plywood flooring, which I am still debating on whether or not to change it, it does have a few issues, especially under the shower pan. The wood paneling was beautiful at one time, solid wood. Some of it had been changed out through the years, due to water stains and rot.
As promised, here are a few pictures of what the camper looked like in the beginning. Unfortunately I did not take any pictures, when I had all the siding removed, to replace rotted wood, I wish now I would have taken some. There are several more pictures on photobucket, 74 total, feel free to look. http://s1084.photobucket.com/albums/j411/tonk62/Camper%20Restoration/

Just wanted to give a small update. I have still been working on the camper, have some pictures I will put up when time allows. Some of the things I have done so far are: new formica on counter tops and table, painted range hood to match stove, new kitchen faucet, replaced and stained all interior paneling, added storage area above front window in overhead, painted toilet and bathroom sink, replaced all exterior lights with new ones. I also loaded camper on new to me, 1994 F350 ext cab dually 4x4 with 7.3 turbo truck with 4 inch lift. i loaded camper so I could get it closer to a water source and get it further off the ground to be able to safely work on holding tanks. Loading the camper was quite a chore in its self, as I had to build a jack stand simular to a stable lift, to get camper high enough off ground to load into truck bed, jacks were about 8 inches to short.
I saw a RED DALE truck camper in perfect condition back around 2009 in a campground south of Salida, Colorado. The owners didn't seem to be around so I wasn't able to get any background information on it.

Great project. Would scare the heck out of most of us. Lots of time, work and expense. I am sure you will be very pleased and proud of the finished product.
I am looking forward to more photos as you progress.
