I'm getting stuff together to coat the roof of my 24' 1999 Fleetwood Jamboree. I've settled on which product I'm going to use and how I'm going to apply it, but I have a couple of questions regarding my A/C unit.
The gasket sealing the unit to the roof seems to be fine, however it is original. The unit is a Coleman Mach and is ducted through the roof.
1) Should I lift the unit out and install a new gasket?
2) If I do, which gasket would you recommend? I've seen several with different strips and what not.
3) Is there a write up on doing this?
Thanks,
Eric

Replace the AC gasket, Get a new gasket and lift the AC unit out and move it to the side, When you apply your roof coating around the AC's 14X14 opening place the seal onto the WET coating and replace the AC unit and tighten it down then move on with your coating, If your going to coat your roof then do it right.

I wouldn't embed the gasket in the wet roof coating. A/C gaskets will fail sooner or later (hopefully later). When it does fail, removing it will be a chore and a half (and may require spot recoating the roof). Even if the existing gasket looks good, replace it while the A/C is already off. That will extend the time before you have to do it again.
Also, if there is anyway you can swing it, completely remove the A/C from the roof (that would be a major job involving a bare minimum of two people unless you have a hoist) so you can apply a continuous coating over the entire roof at once.
