I'm from KY and my favorite campground in the area is Lillydale Campground and Recreation Area located along the shores of Dale Hollow Lake in the hills of Tennessee. Never cared much for Nolin Lake, but that's just me.
I havent been to that state park, but most KY parks the money goes to the golf course and the lodge, not the camp ground. Because of that i usaullt stay in the near by COE parks.
Just down the road from Nolin River is Dog Creek, a COE park i highly reccomend. It isnt very large, the sites are fairly level and graveled. They also have large spacing between them, unlike most KY state parks. It is were i go when i want some place close to home to get away from it all. Also, there is Wax Rec Area, heading there this weekend.
Kentucky state parks offer a lot of excellent RV campgrounds. You can download a free app called Pocket Ranger that lets you search for a campground based on region or activity or whatever features you're looking for. I've only been using it for a few months but it has been super helpful so far!

Absolutely agree! I am in KY and have been to virtually every KY state park, and the vast majority of them are more like mobile home parks/parking lots. They do all spend any of their developement $$ on golf courses and lodges, since most of the state pols are not interested in camping. I always seek out the COE rec areas.

Great park look at site 22 through 32 lake at rear of site, boat ramp in park, fishing from site, 15 minutes from mamonth cave, 45 minutes from Bowling Green "Home of the Vette". I camp and fish there every spring.
