I've never heard of a 12VDC LED fire. 120VAC, that can easily be done -- just short some thin wires with something to scorch and catch between them.

I'll still use the cheap LEDs from China. The light is decent, but the important thing is that they are a lot more economical than incans that can use a surprising amount of energy.

I have had one LED short out, but that is what the fuses are for. As far as buying cheap Chinese LED's, I would rather buy five dollar ones direct from China than the twenty dollar ones from an American distributor and they are still made in China. I have done it both ways for a few hundred dollars worth and have had bad luck with a couple lights on both.

I would do it again as they are great power savers.

Good luck with Ebay cheap chinese lamps. They will likely start flickering in 6 months. You'll be lucky if the light isn't blue.

Have you had experience with the Ebay lamps? I am tempted to try them myself.

No, I've had experience with cheap LEDs.

The LED game can get quite expensive, depending on your desire for nice bright white light vs. alien-autopsy blue/dim light. Yes, it's tempting to want to spend $4 rather than $14, but, in MOST cases, you get what you pay for.

I finally found lamps which suit me at Vegas Trailer Supply. Not to say that will be what works for others.

Are there any reports of LED lights causing fires or doing any damage? I'd hate to have something bad happen just to save some battery power. I'd be looking at these lights.

These are the exact lights I bought. The whole RV has them in. The get warm, but not hot the old incandescents. Hopefully no fire hazard. the outside light has been left on all night(by accident).

The only LED fire I have heard of myself was reported by another member of one of the forums, I think here on this group of forums.

He had a 120 volt LED night light and an MSW inverter.. Did not play nice together.

I have not heard of 12 volt LED's going up in smoke, but.. that said, I know how it can happen.

I have had good luck with LEDs they are not Blusish as some posters

seem to always bring up and they all are from china but the ones that

you buy from the trailer supply company just add on their profit.

These EWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649">http://www.ebay.com/itm/180700180305?ssP........t="" />EWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 are almost the same as the incans that

they replaced but much cooler and take a lot less power. But you be the

judge just order 1 0r 2 then if they are what you want order more that

is what I did and I replaced all of my lights with them.

this vendor has many different types too.

I used to be a DJ and bought some stage LED lighting from China and that was about 5 years ago. I know they NEVER get hot and I also know they draw next to no electricity. I ran a whole slew of them from my small car inverter when we had a hurricane last summer and the light went out. I think I'm gonna take the plunge and see what happens.
