Essex Credit is a broker that Good Sam's uses for their financing program. The loan I got through Essex is with Bank of America, not Bank of the West, so I think they shop around.

Same here but mine went through Wachovia back in 2004 which is now Wells Fargo.

Good luck! I was unable to find financing when we bought our 1997 Prevost, so had to withdraw from the hubby's 401(k).

Home equity loan if you can, at least you can write off the interest at the end of the year.

You can write off the interest on an RV without it being a home equity loan. Any vehicle that has kitchen and bathroom facilities qualifies as a second home and the interest is deductible. Boats, travel trailers, and motor homes all qualify if they have the kitchen and bathroom requirements.

I just financed a 1999 American Eagle through my credit union. Most of the better-known RV-specific lenders won't finance a coach older than 10 years. Credit Unions are usually small enough that they can be much more flexible with these type of loans. Also, many credit unions now have very lax membership requirements -- the one I used only requires that you a resident of that county. Pick up the phone and start calling.

I checked with the credit union I have been a member of for over 25 years and they just recently told me 3 model years old is the most and $55,000 is the most they will lend on any RV. Times are changing.

must be a little credit union. $55k wont buy much in the way of a new RV. As a long time customer you should have lots of pull.

I have had a good relationship with Bank of the West through 3 new motorhomes. They seem to understand them. I suggest you try them at least. Most lenders do not specialize in motorhomes and are wary of getting involved.

Good luck with finding financing. Usually most places I see will require 20% down on the MH up front, then at most finance it for 60 months. I wish I bought my rig a couple years back where people could get 0% down, 10-15 years, all for 5% or so interest.

Until the FED coaxes the banks out of their shell, it is going to be slim pickings for credit for the near future.
