Hola all,

We are in New Branufels, TX after a good 3122 km drive from Puerto Morelos to Eagle Pass, TX.

As GeeWiz posted last month, the roads are about the best that I have seen them in 10 years of driving.

Our route was Chetumal-Villahermosa-Puebla(Cholula)-San Miguel de Allende - Saltillo - Eagle Pass.

We had no problems at all, probably the best drive we have had so far.

Some stats: We burned 820 litres of fuel which cost $8312 MXN. We paid about 2700 MXN in tolls. Camping was cheap, averaging $15 CDN a night.

We are looking forward to the reverse trip in Oct-Nov.

Thanks for all the info we find on this board.

For those that use Miles and Gallons

820 Liters = 213.2 Gallos

3122 Kilometers = 1935.64 Miles

The US Dolar is aproximatly $1.00 dll to 13.6 MxPeso

Hope this helps

Where did you stay in Saltillo? is the campground at the Imperial still open? We will likely cross at Eagle Pass around the 1st of November, a couple of days in Saltillo then turn south to Oaxaca from Puebla.

I stayed at the Imperial last December. They were working on the courtyard near the RV parking. I don't think the intent was to get rid of the parking though. There was a Telcel store next to the walmart about a quarter mile away where I picked up my USB stick for internet.

In Saltillo we stayed at Hotel La Fuente. 180 pesos this time. In November it was 250. It was fine. Electricity and water is close by to fill your tanks. We usually just overnight in Saltillo, so we like that it is close to the highway.
