We left Dawson Creek and headed northwest. I took an unexpected snooze and awakened to Chuck excitedly yelling "Camera!" He slowed the RV down to a crawl. I grabbed the camera, turned it on, prepared the shot. The moose stood at the top of a small rise, looking at us quizzically. My finger started going down on the camera's trigger.
BOOM!!!! Boomer jumps on me excitedly barking loudly, warning of an approaching disaster. The moose is startled, afraid of the barking RV. It retreats to the forest.
I recover the camera and snap a quick shot. My beautiful moose shot. It seems I am to start a collection of animal butt pictures. (You can see this incredible shot in our blog).
Chuck said while I was napping a black bear ambled along the edge of the forest searching for food.
Animals are alive and well in British Columbia.

Northern B.C. is very active with wildlife. Keep the eyes peeled for caribou too, plus more bears.
Around the Liard River & Hotsprings and northward to Watson Lake, you'll likely encounter some of these ... hopefully napping in the sun and not standing on the road refusing to move!

Last summer, we also saw most of our wildlife along the Alaska Highway. There was a grizzly eating at the edge of the woods at one point. Unfortunately, in all our travel to and through Alaska, we never saw a bull moose. Lots of females and calves though.

Boy can I relate! Last summer in Yellowstone I managed to photograph most wildlife from the backside. It is amazing how quickly some of these huge animals can turn around. I may not know what they look like from the front but I can identify them from the rear...

We saw two grey wolf walking the edge of the road's clearing near Ft Nelson. Gave up on keeping track of how many bears and moose. Saw a herd of sheep (20+) on 1A just north of Baniff.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

Wait til you get to Alaska. Our first trip up in '05 we saw a thousand warning signs about animals, and only some sheep and one elk in the Canadian Rockies park. By the time we were in AK, we were terribly disappointed. One of our first stops was Elmendorf AFB, near Anchorage. While refueling at the base gas station, we saw what appeared to be a rather moth eaten, rough coated horse tied to a light pole out front of the station. Then the "horse" turned around....It was a bull moose, 5' from the road and people pumping gas. While staying at the Elmendorf FAMCAMP, we had to be careful not to get run down by numerous female moose and calves. The security forces also had to kill a black bear in the campsites that would no longer scare with cracker rounds. The animals will do what they will do, just be prepared to see them anywhere. We've been back to AK 5 summers and one winter (saw the Iditerod). Just LOVE the place. Heading up next summer again.

We are planning our trip for next summer. We are going with one other couple. We have started meeting and planning our trip. I can't wait. It's been on my bucket list FOREVER! DH has some health challenges, but all is under control. We just bought a little B+ for our "Alaska rig." Having fun outfitting it. I really enjoy reading this thread and know we are in for a good time. I so love what I am seeing and hearing.
