Since it was a trimetric reading--and the inverter was alarming at 11 volts--150 X 11 volts = 1650 watts.
We might also assume 15% for inverter inefficiency, making the coffee makers actual consumption about 1400w.

Hey Don,
Yeah. I've seen those. That's why I'm a little perplexed here. This thing sounds like some kind of thermonuclear coffee making device.
Cheers,

You would need a major solenoid and battery cable sized wires to pull 150 amps for a full minute. I initially had the same question. But it's a 120V AC coffee maker running on an inverter. So 150A DC is possible. And he said it was a Trimetic reading so that includes all other non coffee pot battery loads.

We use an extension cord through the kitchen window that's plugged into the 20 AMP socket outside. Now my volt meter stays on 120 (no drop or fluctuations) when making coffee in the morning. We have a string permenantly attached inside that the wife drops out during our normal hookup routine. This allows us connect the cord for retrieving it inside and then we to drop the cord back out and lock the window when not in use.

Here's the skinny on the single cup coffee maker. It is a Hamilton Beach A84. It is rated at 1300w @120v. This morning I closely monitored the Trimetric during the brewing. My wife uses a different setting from me, which uses a constant amp draw rather than pulsating and I tested her's. My resting amperage on the Trimetric was -2.5 amps. when the coffee maker was turned on it went to -130/-141 amps and stayed there for 2 minutes. (Yesterday it was showing 152 amps. so something else mush have been on that I didn't notice). I left the lbco at 11.1v and the inverter didn't shut down but the batteries weren't as low as yesterday. The batteries recovered to 12.5v fairly quickly. They were at 12.6 from overnight useage. I thought the amp draw in the literature was the max.

Ok, then just set the inverter to alarm at a lower voltage when you're doing the coffee your way.

I added a second cord to my rig with 2 inside plugs that could be used for ceramic heaters or coffee pot. The cord terminates in the back and is plugged into the engine block heater outlet.
So if we are on 20/30A and and extra pedestal plug is available we're all set up inside. With 50A or gen we just have 2 extra inside plugs.
