Please offer some more information. Where are you coming from and where are you entering North Dakota at? You can also PM me and I'll help with any information I can.

Don't plan on a stop in western N.D., no really. The oil-boom in the area has sucked up every campground spot for a hundred miles around.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

A lot of the towns in ND have a small campground owned by the City. We stayed at one in Kulm for 10 bucks a night with full hook ups. Just google the towns you'll be passing through and see if they have one. Also a KOA and some other private campgrounds throughout the state.

Hwy 2 is not all that scenic. Williston is a big town but filled with oil drillers to the max. If you don't have to take Hwy 2... pick a different route.
The trucks are pounding the highways to death in the NW section of ND.
Minot is still trying to house residents that lost their homes in the flooding. They are in trailers, too.
Small towns across the state do have RV sites by their city parks. Some only have 5 or 10 sites each. Quite often a Cenex gas station will have a place to dump your tanks so look for them.
The big truck stop SOUTH of I94 on the east side of Bismarck has a dump and fresh water. Free if you buy their gas.
You may have to boondock your way across the state.

There may be some spots available in Teddy Roosevelt NP in western ND; don't know if the folks working in the oil patch have them all taken or not. Maybe give a call to the NPS officials at the park to get better info. The park is definitely worth a visit, so I hope you can find a CG with openings.

DO NOT take Highway 2 across North Dakota. Like some have already tried to tell you the RV parks along Highway 2 are full once you get to Minot. And the highway is in poor shape from all the heavy oil truck traffic on it. Take I-94 instead. You can stop in Bismarck at General Sibley City Park, which has electric/water or at Fort Lincoln State Park in Mandan. Then go on to Theodore Roosevelt National Park South Unit and take in the Medora musical in a great oudoor amphitheater. That will put you close enough to the western border that you can make it into Montana on the next leg. But don't go north because the Bakken oil field extends into northeastern Montana.
