Is it possible to add an ems system to a 5th wheel. Is it a major investment? Does it require a major rebuild of the electrical system or can it be added to the circuit breaker box? Living in Fl. we end up camping a lot in the summer months and many of the parks we camp in are only 30 amp service.

We use a progressive 50amp portable unit (works fine on 30am with a dog bone). Many other Montana owners have installed a fixed unit in their rig. If you can easily get to your power center it's not supposed to be that hard. We like the portable unit and it's a great option if you're not electrically inclined.

Are you talking about surge protection type or type that drops load? Surge protection would be eazier, load dropping would require working on your wiring system - major work if you are not doing.

Check out precisioncircuitsinc.com to obtain an easily retrofitted device.

EMS means it will switch between the front A/C and the rear A/C when on 30 amp service, this is not a surge protector.

X2 Just bought a portable 50 amp progressive worked well first time out shut down L2 due to low voltage. Just make sure you have some way of keeping it from walking away, I have a bike seat cable and pad lock it to the power pedestal

EMS system also switches loads to priority's depending on power coming into the unit. A/C, water heater, fridge ect. We have it in our MH and it's great!!

Switches between 20amp/30amp or 50amp and controls everything automatically.

Not all of them do that. Many EMS units have surge and spike protection as well as high and low voltage protection, protection against improperly wired pedestals, etc.

Again, not all EMS units do that.
