Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Snapperfest involves nothing more than using one's bare hands to pickup a snapping turtle from a tank carry it about 50 feet and then holding it up by it's head. Dangerous , yes, cruel and inhumane, no.

If it indeed ONLY involves carrying a snapping turtle 50ft by its head then there is nothing cruel about it and if you think there is, you don't have any experience with snapping turtles! I've held them up off the ground for over five minutes after they've latched on heavy stick. These things are about as prehistoric a creature as you will find in nature and tough as hell.
Sounds like a pretty stupid thing to do however--I wouldn't get my hands near those jaws--I know first hand what they can do with them.

This is crazy. To think that these are 'normal' people you'd meet at work is a little scary. So cruel.

I've heard of "snapperfest" but didn't think it involved turtles.

The u-tube videos are so brutal, they require an age statement sign-in, for proof of adult only viewing.

The u-tube videos also show cross street banners, displaying a sponsorship by Anheuser-Busch.

How sad, that such a fine brewer, is connected with a hillbilly, redneck rodeo like this.

Guess I'll have to learn how to spell Coor's Light on the shopping list now.

Also show's proof that neanderthal man did in fact, not become extinct, he just donned coveralls and a ball cap and migrated into the Ohio Valley.

I know there's a lot of good folk in the valley and I'm surprised this type of thing is not only happening, but going on it's 13 year.

According to the news reports it's an annual event, put on at:

Camp Shore Camp Ground

That's my feeling as well. If they're not attacking you, why attack them?
You might want to post this on RVparkreviews.com. Maybe if the campground owners find that many people don't find this event entertaining, they'll stop promoting it. I don't think there are many campgrounds that wish to be associated with animal cruelty.

Yeah, most of them are carnivores too! Like they actually kill chickens, cows, sheep, pigs, and all kinds of fish and eat them! They aren't nice people like the people here who only eat veggies, weeds, and tree bark.
