I am ready to purchase a new Dinghy and want auto transmission, towable 4 down. I have previously owned the Honda CRV so I am familiar with Honda. I am pondering the Kia Sorento. If you have experience with the redesigned Kia Sorento, I would appreciate your comments.
Also, the Sorento is limited to 60 mph. Are these real limitations or guidelines.
The KIA Sorento SX (we have a new 2011) has a nice ride, powerful yet fuel efficient engine, is Made in the USA in West Point, GA in KIA's new $1 billion fatory...lots of cargo space (and available 3rd row seat), in 15,000 miles it has continued to impress us with the supurb quality, all the ammenites you could ever want and confortable interior.
And by the way...all KIA's can be towed 4 down without restrictions in Manual versions. (Edited...4 down applies to Manuals Only, E-Trailers.com and KIA owners manual))

Just bought a 2013 Sorento with auto trans. The owners manual said not to tow over 5 mph for 1 mile. I would love to use ours as a toad, in-stead-of our wrangler sometimes. Where did you find the towing information, and about how many miles do you have on yours flat towing ?

Between what the Manual says, and what Remco says, I don't think I would try to tow it four down!
But, that's just the way I am...

The Motorhome Magazine 2012 guide to Dinghy Towing states the KIA Sorento FWD/AWD is towable with automatic transmission.
I went to the local KIA Dealer today and they don't know, but will call KIA tomorrow. The Sorento manual I looked at is generic and says you cannot tow.
The Roadmaster Bracket Application guide shows an XL tow bracket for the 2011-2012 model KIA Sorento with 2.4 engine. If Roadmaster makes a bracket, someone is towing, are they not?
I've been looking at both the Soul and Sorento, and can find nothing tat says the auto trans models CAN be towed 4down. No problem with the manual trans, looks like ALL Kias can be towed with manual trans. Guess I'll keep looking. Will probably end up with a 10 year old Cherokee.

Motorhome Magazine has printed a retraction. The KIA is not towable 4 down. MH has apologized for their mistake.
..As one that owns a Kia (Sedona) and has talked at great length with Kia service technicans about this, this really comes as no surprise. I'm actually surprised they endorse it even with manual transmission versions, haha.
We own a Kia Sedona minivan, and they would not even support towing it on a dolly, let alone 4 down! They only recommend towing it on a flatbed. Technician told me that Kia is concerned with dolly towing, specifically about the rocking back and forth that goes on when on a dolly. There is concern that it would tear up the parking 'paw' in the transmission. Technician advised me to tow it on a dolly in Neutral to avoid this. Still not sure if thats necessary or not.
I mentioned the fact that Remco has a lube pump that has been successfully tested/verified to allows 4 down towing with the Kia Sedona. He knew nothing about that and wouldn't comment on it.
Anyway, I definitely get the impression that Kia, like some other manufacturers, knows very little about towing 4 down, does zero testing with such, so they don't want to support it hardly at all.
