Bill,
Just my opinion (and practice) - if you need to borrow $$ to make the purchase, rethink your purchase!! If you can't pay for it, you don't need to buy it!

Well, that is fine if you have money flying out of your backside. However, for most of us, financing is the only way to have your dream.
Now to the OPs question. I went through Good Sam to refinance. It was very fast and painless. They were fair and hassle free. I would use them again, if I ever need financing.

Well Bully for you. Must be nice to be superior to others and qualified to judge their every move. I have made loans to people who are self made Billionaires, are they living over their means as well? It is my experience that those who preach the Zero Debt mantra are people who are unable to manage their finances any other way. Very similar to an alcoholic or a gambler who can only control their habits by total abstinance. Most of us are capable of managing credit, just like most of us can have a drink or place a bet and not end up sleeping in a cardboard box under a bridge.
dogger,
I certainly do not feel 'superior' to others nor even attempting to 'judge' their actions! I am simply offering a personal opinion that has been developed over many years of paying off loans on 'stuff' I (we) did not really need - new cars, boats, jet ski's etc, etc. But when the hammer fell on my job in 1981, getting another at my age and (then) big salary was not achievable! We sold everything that was not a necessity, purchased a klunker to get to my job paying half of what I had been earning, and over 5 years with bill collectors on my a$$ every day, paid all our bills and credit cards off and have been on a CASH basis for everything since then. It really is not too hard to do if you have the right attitude AND you get to keep the $$ you otherwise pay out in the interest every month. Having no interest to pay is like a $150 or $200 increase in monthly income! And now that we are retired, that is even more important. As someone one observed - Gold is the money of Kings, Silver the money of Gentlemen and Credit the money of slaves. Just my personal opinion!
And yes, our rig suits us just fine, is well maintained and looks almost as good as it did when it was new - but is not satisfactory for places that do not allow motohomes more than 10 years of age. I spend my $$ where it is welcome.
We financed throught them (actually it was Essex). It was Fairly fast and simply (got pre-approved before purchase). But the intrest was high and in the week leading up to the finalization they raised it three times. Kind of put us in a perdiciment. Eventually we took out our IRAs and paid it off in order to save the $400 a month we were paying in interest. Good luck. Oh, You may find it diffucult in this economy to get a loan if you are a FT and have no permanent home.

Why don't you give them a call. Maybe your credit has recovered enough to purchase a MH that will qualify you to the 10 yr. rule?
