All I read into the blurb is that business is slow. Do you have an inside from the actual article($) that suggest such?

I do not put much faith in any story published in that mullet wrapper.

In 2009 and 2010 Georgia and many other states closed rest areas… since then some have reopened and some haven’t… it wouldn’t be hard to picture someone taking another look at closing them again…

Prior to that for a time Georgia closed the rest areas at night rather than pay for security in them… security became the norm after a few killings at Florida rest areas and liability issues that cropped up for the state…

No Sir. All I did was make the info available. If you want further research, you'll have to do it yourself

Here in Louisiana the rest areas are closing, too. Just came back from a trip into Tennessee, Georgia, etc. Coming westbound on I-20 there is a welcome center just across the Mississippi River from Vicksburg. That is the ONLY rest area for the entire westbound ride until you get into Texas. Kinda sad!!!

Many state parks in California are closing. It's hard to plan a trip when the current AAA book notes that many parks will close by July and you don't have access to the Internet and want to just "wing it" through part of the state.

We're about to leave Arizona on a 6 month loop around the west, north, and midwest. Guess it will be interesting to see what we find. At least we're towing our rest area behind us....all we need is a place to put it.
