I just purchased a 2012 SRC for use as a dinghy. My owner's manual has no instructions regarding the need to pull any fuses when being towed behind my motorhome. Does anyone have experience in using a 2012 SRX as a dinghy and if so, do you pull any fuses? Any other vehicle specific info would be appreciated. I would like to tow without pulling fuses, but I want to avoid a dead battery on arrival even more! Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!
I have a 2010 SRX that my wife rarely drives and has only a few thousand miles on it so I thought I would have base plates installed and tow it. After reading up and realizing I would have to pull 4 fuses and also limit speed and start it every so often I decided I'd end up forgetting to do something and damge it so I bought a 2012 Ford Focus to tow. It's light, inexpensive, 32/38 mpg, and a pretty nice little car. The last Ford car I had was a 1958 Fairlane. With the exception of Cadillac, I would never buy another GM or Chrysler product, Ford earned my respect and business.
I googled the owners manual, here is a pdf copy, it does have directions for 4 down towing. No mention of pulling a fuse.
It is in section 10-93 2012 SRX owners manual
Thanks for input. Looks like no fuse pulling is required. Having the new Blue Ox base plate and wiring for my Roadmaster 9700 supplemental braking system (that I used with my prior toad) installed tomorrow.
