I've read for years about putting ice cubes into your black tank to help break loose material stuck on sensors in black tank, but not until yesterday did I ever need to use it. Our black tank sensors have been unreliable for a while now, we have a back flush system and that usually does the trick. This time after an hour of trying...we filled it up 3/4 full and added all the ice we had left in freezer before hitting the road for home. When we got home we flushed and were "empty" once again. Good advice on here.....use it. Thanks

I don't think ice cubes would last very long in our Arizona dry heat......

I think just the water did the trick. That much water would take a lot of ice to keep from melting when it hits the water.

I haven't tried ice or salt. Sometimes they register correctly and sometimes they don't

Ice works best in a glass and Jack Daniels.

I put a bag of ice in the tank, along with a couple gallons of water, every week or so while on the road. It cleans the sensors, plus a lot of paper that adheres to the tank walls. I've thought too that the ice would melt quickly, but even in Texas when it was 90 out, when I stopped after several hours, there was still ice in the tank.

When we first bought our MH we had a Mount Poo in the black tank - read up on subject here amongst you experts and tried the ice trick. 55 gal tank - put in 5 gal of water and 4 bags of ice - drove around for an hour and then filled black tank and flushed. OOOW, the stuff that came out ( I use a clear section of drain pipe - let's me know for sure the flow has stopped - no surprises!! ). Do this once in awhile since then just to shake things up in there - seems to work - sensors work and have had no problems draining.

Some think it works, some don't - whatever blows up your skirt
