Hopefully I can get some help here. 2005 CAT C7. I changed my fuel/water separator, primed and now it will not start. It ran for a few seconds then slowly stopped running. I tryed starting fluid and still no luck. I am concerned the filter on the engine may need to be changed as well (only one year old). Could I have gotten some bad fuel and plugged the engine fuel filter? Brett are you out there?

Thanks!

Sounds like air in the system.

After reading another post that Brett Wolfe wrote, I had the nose down creating an air bubble. So now I have the batteries charging and the MH in the driveway and I can't move it. How do I (if this is the problem) get rid of the air issue? No primer pump on the engine.

Can't you turn on the ignition for 20 seconds then off to run the lift pump. Do this several times and it should force the air out of the filter and the rest of the system. I'd probably do this 8 or 10 times to be sure then try to start the engine.

You can buy a manual pump and add it to the filter mount. Did you fill the filter with fuel?

Hi,

I know little about diesels--but mine had a "bleed valve". It was very similar to a dill and schraeder tire valve. One person depressed the valve and the other cranked the engine over. When the person holding valve saw diesel--then it would start.

Best of luck with this!

Yes, filled the filter first. Last time it worked fine.

I've heard of pressurizing the fuel tank with a compressor, air hose and a rag? Probably don't want/need much pressure (10 PSI?)

Does sound like you are air bound . Do like he says and look for a bleeder valve , if no valve you may have to loosen each injector until you see fuel come out of each one.
