Started a new thread, the old one was getting all the normal Ford is Crap, Ford is Great hoo-haa on it. I know it's hard to resist, but try, OK? I personally have had lousy luck with all three North American brands, so I personally think they all suck. But if you want a truck that can tow 12K lbs, they are the choice you have. Pick one, drive it till you can change it, pick another one.

Truck ran great for 175 Km this morning, then seemed to lose a cylinder. Lost power again but not as bad, aggressive vibration felt when torque converter locked up and the drive train is tight. Very lopey idle, and if it was a gas engine I would say it was missing. Ran another 25 km to get to Drummondville where I knew there was a Ford dealer. Appointment is for Friday at 7:30AM, I parked the trailer at the Best Western and parked the truck at the dealer, in case they can get it in early.

This is apparently not over yet. I am pretending this is a nice vacation in a part of the world I've never been to and where I don't speak the language. At least Drummondville has nice restaurants...

The plausible explanation is that the diagnostics was not properly done the first time.

Sorry to hear the grief...

The natives there speak in some strange tongue, so you have to parlez with them and wave your hands about.

Again, it could be a lot of things. But........they only replaced one injector last time correct?

See where I'm going with this? But again it could be many things.

Just courious, how much was the last bill from the dealership?

Sorry for your problems.

That sucks! I hope they figure it out correctly and quickly as there is nothing worse than being broke down away from home.

No bashing here, breakdowns CAN HAPPEN TO US ALL regardless what brand you drive. Hope it works out to be a nothing and you're back on the road quick. Just make sure you're back for the Cactus Festival .

The test that should be done if HPOP oil pressure is suspected to be cause:

I would have to see the failed injector to see if it was really an issue.

But you can tell I am having my doubts.

If they can fix it on Friday, I'll try to make it home over the weekend and get it seriously checked out there. If they can't, I'll drive back to Nova Scotia in my car (with all the luck, at least I was towing my trailer with a street car in it!) and get my other truck (2003 Dodge 2500 Hemi) which I haven't sold yet. It can tow my trailer home (Hamilton Ontario) and get us out of motels. At least at Best Western we qualify for a senior's rate...

I was real nervous with only one injector changed - if one is bad, why not the others? On the other hand, they cost $380 each so you don't change them on a whim. Also, they put three O-rings in. I presume the new injector came with it's own new O-ring and they did the other three on that head - why not the others? I have no idea. I can build gas engines all day long, I've been a race car builder for 25 years. I can run the rack or do an in-frame on a Detroit two stroke no problem. I know bupkes about modern diesel engines.

Good luck with it and keep us posted...

aside:...also good luck keeping ANY truck discussion here on the Forum from "all the normal (GM, Ford, Dodge) is Crap, is Great hoo-haa."

I seriously don't think they did the diagnostics right.

If the O rings sort of fixed the problem for a bit... that suggest a HPOP issue.

Here is what they probably replaced --- but you should verify with the Part numbers used in your invoice.

The STC fitting falling apart issue is the one they might not have fixed.

Did you ask them to check if that upgrade (STC bracket / brace) was done?

http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/articles/article-05-17.php

That would have turned up in the air leak test.

I don't think you got a proper diagnostics.
