How do you route the trailer plug wiring from the truck to the trailer and keep the excess length from being pinched by the WD hitch and sway bar?

The reason I ask is because I recently had the wire get pinched and short cause the trailer brakes to keep locking up. I had to rewire on the side of the rode to fix.

Just looking for some wisdom as I am completely new at this.

Three loose wraps around the left side trunnion bar of my Reese WDH takes up the excess but leaves enough slack for me to cut all the way, (90 degrees), without putting tension on the 7 pin plug. I only have one anti sway bar and it is on the right side.

Had the same problem with a horse trailer once and I cut one end and ran mine through a long piece of garden hose.

I use a pin with a wire locking loop pinned through the hitch pin lock hole. Then I run the trailer wire throught the loop. It keeps the trailer wire on top of the hitch and allows movement when driving and making turns.
