Really enjoyed Hatfield & McCoys. As someone else said, a nice departure from some of the fun stuff on the History channel.
As for Westerns...Lonesome Dove, both the movie and the book are favorites!

I watched a bit....on my PVR. Good show....I know the feud was gritty, violent, hard...but I'm not sure I can get through all....is it 9 hours ?
Costner and the other actors seem to be doing a fine job, the scene ray is beautiful....but it is violent...and yes I know these were violent times.

It's six hours, but if you fast forward through the commercials it's about an hour and a half.

I have heard of their AR accessories and magazines, but there were no autos at the time this was to have taken place... but I am sure these are not the MWG's to which you refer.
I don't know what WR's or MWG's are but it appears that a few generation of serious inbreeding was showing. And the shooting war lasted more than 20 years. More like 50 or more, IIRC.

Folks, it was a show made for television. Other than the cost of cable or satellite it is free. That is what commercials are for. I did not see it nor probably will as I am not a tv watcher. I would rather read. As for the characters, this was a different time. Certainly some of the clans were not educated, spoke with an accent and words that do not sound like a tv announcer talking but that doesn't mean everyone who speaks like that are stupid or half witted. If someone stole your hog or otherwise took the food right out of your mouth, you might get a bit angry too. If you ever visit that area you might just imagine how different it is from main street USA. I would suggest you go to your local library and read the Foxfire series about the people of Appalachia. It gives a great look at the people of the region of those times.

Fairly accurate along the plot line.

Well I thought it was good... How much was the real deal and how much was added.... who knows and who cares it's TV, you want the true facts, if there are any research it.
I will say it was a differant world then obviously, you steal something, mess with another mans wife... no court, you might pay with your life!
I've got no issues with Kevin Costner, thought he did a good job!

Yes, that was almost impossible to read. Too bad.
