I went up to Mohegan Sun Casino this past weekend and used my generator a lot.
Has anyone used the Gen-turi system or anything similar?
I know this is popular with Nascar type camping.
Pros?
Cons?

I use the Gen-turi and find it very helpful in diverting both the exhaust fumes and the exhaust noise to a point above the coach roof line where they dissipate harmlessly. No fumes, less noise, I love it...

If you use your motorhome generator in a confined area where the rigs are stuck close together having the generator exhaust exit at roof level is a good thing. They are easy to install and easy to setup and take down. If you are always out in the wide open spaces it is probably not going to be of much value. Some gatherings they are required. There have been deaths in racetrack parking lots from carbon monoxide poisoning from generators exhausting at ground level and aimed at another RV. I got mine from Amazon for a good price.

You need a Genturi if you run your gen near another MH or ever run your gen at nite. Go to topic'sleeping with gen running ' for more info.
I show dogs and MH are parked close for days. Most shows REQUIRE a Genturi.
Dont make your own, cost is very reasonable.
Deaths have been reported where gens run without one. I have never heard a single neg about using one and I have an Onan gen. I have used one for over 10 yrs with no problems.
If anyone parks near me without one they are asked to move.
If an awning is open the fumes will pool under it and this is dangerous.

Living On wrote: Lots of people swear by them. Cummins/Onan advises not to use one. It will kill the warranty due to "excessive backpressure". If it is hooked up properly, there should not be any excessive backpressure to bother anything, but if you connect it solidly to the generator exhaust pipe, you will have effectively changed the manufacture specification pressure of the exhaust system. Never have heard of anyone getting their warranty killed because of using a Gen-turi.

have had one for a while and love it for all the reasons previously mentioned. I agree with the backpressure and a properly installed Genturi should not effect the generator. I would check with my generator manufacture if its under warrenty. If some thing happens and you go to a repair center and they see the genturi if they say it voids the warrenty it does not matter what we think or know

I'd like to add we've had several folks report that they have had CO fumes in their RV when parked alone boondocking when running their genset. Depending on how and where the exhaust is located fumes can collect under the RV and even slight breezes can cause a concentration of CO in and around an RV.
Personally I won't stay in or near an RV without a Genturi put the fumes above the RV; and we have measured noise levels without the Genturi and with the Genturi pointed up the sound levels were decreased.

Just for info. your roof air does NOT draw air from the out side to be used inside It cools the inside air and transfers the heat to the out side. Thats why you have an air filter on the inside of the AC unit.
