Take it back and tell them to fix it. Worse you can hear is no. Then remind them abut such media outlets as facebook and if your local news channel has a consumer action line then place a call to them. Remind them that bad but true advertisment will make them look bad to the public, like I said the worse answer you can hear is no.

In michigan AS IS even if signed an AS IS agreement doesn't totally mean that. If it can be proven they hit a problem the dealer can be made accountable. It may take going before a judge to get them to do it but in MI AS IS does not apply to a dealer if is stated and signed by both parties. Now on a private sale/purchase, AS IS is AS IS end of discussion.

I would never say this and i am going to get flamed...what if you accidentally backed your camper into a wall. Would insurance cover the repair.

No. What if you have to go to jail for insurance fraud.

I would delete this post if I were you. You are borderline committing a conspiracy to fraud. What if the OP takes your advice and does this? If he gets arrested, you will be an accomplice if he devulges your input.

I don't know about conspiracy to defraud... He asked a legitimate question. He did not say.. let's do this. or Let me tell you how to do this..
Other than that... I think the insurance adjustor might reduce the claim once he saw obvious signs of water damage.

I would actually tow the trailer back to the dealership and calmly show them the damage. Explain to the manager how you pointed out that spot and asked the salesman if it was water damage. If the dealer is honest then I would expect them to at least have one of their service techs look at it and possibly try to find out where the leak is and seal it. After that tell them you will give it a little time to see if it will dry out and be something that you can live with.
As for the posts earlier with people talking about insurance fraud. If you live in Michigan you see on a monthly basis how the insurance companies commit fraud themselves with their outrageous premiums.

I have a TT that had a leak in the rear roof area when we bought it 8 years ago. I didn't notice it at the time but discovered it as time passed. I have to check the roof out each year and add a little caulk once in a while, but the water damage dries out and is not a problem that stops us from enjoying our camping outings. I understand your frustration and feeling you were sold something that was misrepresented, but if you can patch the leak and live with the wall damage as it dries out you can still move on and enjoy your camper.

My husband and I own an auto dealership. We have an unwritten policy that if someone comes back to us with in the first 30 days of their purchase with a "surprise" issue, we will generally cover the cost of fixing it. The cost of advertising is thousands of dollars per month... and a happy customer who tells his friends, is worth more to us in advertising than any ad we can buy.
So I agree with the posts that say.. Go back and ask for a repair... years maintanence, parts sales, labour and service work are also part of what the dealership could be losing if they do not take care of their customer...
