We will be attending a family reunion in Farmington Hills, MI mid-July and are looking for a nearby campground (35' motorhome). I'm considering either Camp Dearborn or Proud Lake Rec. Area. We won't be spending much time in camp, mostly just to sleep. Any comments about either of these choices or recommendations for somewhere else? TIA.
While growing up in Wayne County, I always liked camping at Camp Dearborn; mostly because there was so much to do. We were always in the primitive group camping area, RV parking wasn't developed yet. We also used Camp Dearborn for large group activities like reunions and club picnics.
What makes Camp Dearborn worth the fees are the facilities on the property; if you aren't going to use them, you might consider one of the RVs in Wayne County, the County Fairgrounds is popular for just parking and hookups, and it is a straight shot up the western side of I-275 to get to Farmington Hills. Probably easier than the drive from the Milford area.
