Jim, My old 460 does climb grades one gear higher with the Banks Power Pack. You can expect the same results with your 8.1. Interesting that all the negative responders don't have a Banks up-grade on their RV. If you used the "over priced" logic mentioned in this thread, then there wouldn't be any RVs on the road. Then there are the fatalists that think Banks would actually sell you parts that will destroy your engine. How on earth would Gail Banks have stayed in business all these years if he wasn't selling quality goods? I installed my Banks kit 8 years ago and haven't destroyed my engine yet. If you want and need more HP and torque, then go spend some of your toy money and grin all the way to the poor house with the rest of us Banks owners. GRIN.......See what Banks says you'll get for your money.

My FIL had the Banks system installed on his 7.4 Vortec 35' MH. Before the install my 30'C could outrun him on hills when I was pulling my toad and he was running solo. Now he can outrun me when we are both pulling toads. Also, his rig no longer overheats on long hills. MPG is pretty much unchanged. Don't know if he gets another 20 mph on hills, but the seat of the pants difference was pretty impressive.

Yea - That was for Deisel tuner test though. Thx
They did one on the gasser too not too long ago. I'm getting old and don't own a gasser, so I didn't pay much attention to it.
I will say our last gasser (1990 Ford 460) responded very well from a Banks Power Pack System.
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

That's quite a stretch. On Banks own website, they only claim a 10 mph gain going up a 6% grade. That is only believable if they would address the actual weight of the MH that was used in their test for proof. Once again it comes down to this: If the sales person lips are moving........
I also find it hard to believe that GM would have left that kind of performance on the table, that is not the GM that I have learned to love and hate. I always find it interesting that Banks claims of performance increases of HP and torque have the words UP TO in their descriptions. Either it does or it doesn't. One thing is for certain, a big block whatever sounds way better with performance exhaust than with stock.

Supposedly having a Banks system installed will not increase the value of your moho. That may be true in the Blue Book, but if I saw 2 identical rigs in a lot; one had Banks and the other did not, I would have no problem paying 5K more for the one equiped with the Banks. Not having to worry about broken exhaust manifold bolts alone is worth the extra $.
20 MPH is a bit optimistic. Maybe 20 km/h, but even that is pushing it. But just a 5 MPH increase (more reasonable) can mean the difference between holding-up traffic or flowing with the traffic on a long grade.

I would! Because anytime you build up a engine (gas or diesel) beyond its manufacturer's specifications you are taking life longevity away from that engine.
