Been a part of this forum for over seven years and have come across many firefighters. Would like to hear from you! I think this has been done before but I am starting a new one!

I am a 12+ year member of the Seattle Fire Department, currently assigned to Ladder 4 in Belltown. Married, with two children (ages 12, and 9). We have been rv'ing for nearly eight years and primarily spend our camping in Eastern Washington during the short summer.

Law Enforcement is more than welcome to comment.

Moderator, please put this in a more appropriate category if I picked the wrong one!

I had the pleasure of meeting a firefighter on last camping trip. We hung out with him and his wife for a bit one evening. Not only a firefighter but involved in so many great orgs. Great person!

Raleigh Sr. Firefighter of almost ten years here. Presently assigned to Engine 16. I'm also one of those firefighters who has his own business on my off days, hence the name.

Our main RV trips are to ATV cross-country races throughout North and South Carolina with the DW and two sons, 18 and 11..

23 years as a firefighter/paramedic western burbs of Detroit and part of the county/regional USAR team since it's inception when the federal money helped combine a bunch of dept's with limited resources.

We have five kids that rarely camp with us any longer (4 grand kids that don't seem that fond of camping), so the wife and I are embarking on some new trips on our own and will be taking care of a lighthouse on a remote section of Lake Superior this summer. Along with some other adventures all ready planned out.

Not sure how long I've been on these forums but always find info for questions I have and hopefully have provided some helpful info to others.

If the legislature doesn't kill my pension, we hope to be traveling a bit and camphosting in the near future.

Retired chief of a small rural Texas municipal fire department. Still active with Valero Corpus Christi Refinery emergency response team at work. We both have been camping all our lives and had the opportunity this last weekend to camp with both our sons and their families. We camp at mostly Texas State Parks in our 2011 Open Range JT 337 RLS.............tightlines

Retired Raleigh PD after 30 years. I have been camping forever -- started when I was a kid with my family.
I have lots of friend on the FD -- they could never understand why I would chance getting shot at and I could never figure out why they would run into a burning building. Public Safety -- you have to be dedicated because you are not going to get rich.

Happy Trails!!

17 years in the sheriff's department, 3 years with an HTT. Always enjoyed the chance to go out and camp as a kid, nice to see my two are enjoying it too. Seeing I am not around as much as I would perfer to be, the times we go out is great family time. I agree with what jrtgirls wrote, I can't figure you firefighters out, burning buildings and all. Not a get rich thing by any means, but I love the job!

Retired from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue just south and west of Portland Oregon. Twenty six years on the line. Loved it and feel blessed to have worked with so many wonderful talented people. I still see a few for breakfast and wonder where the time went.
