Former ff/emt for 13 years for a small volunteer fire department in Northern Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati Ohio. God bless every one of you for your service to our communities. It can be a thankless job but I for one truly appreciate the hard work you guys and gals do.

My nephew is a Captain with the Jacksonville, Fl Fire Dept. He commands a Fire
Boat on the St. Johns River through downtown Jacksonville and loves his job. He has been recommended for Fire Chief twice and turned it down both times as he did not want to leave the boat. Good on him.

I have been a Volunteer Firefighter with my local department for 19 years. 16 of those years I have been the EMS Captain (nobody else wants the position).

I have also been a Career Firefighter/Paramedic for 13 years the last 7 of them have been with the Berlin Fire Company (Home of the 1924 Mack)

I love my job. 24/72's it can't get any better than that!

While I never met the man, I am hoping all can have a moment of silence for Springfield Massachusetts Police Officer Kevin Ambrose, killed in the line of duty this past Monday. Officer Ambrose served the city of Springfield for 36 years. To all my bothers and siters in blue that served or still serve, thank you.
