I would actually pay three times the cost for a Disney World ticket if they would offer "front of the line" tickets. Universal Studios does this (or at least used to do it). Last time we were there I paid the extra price for the front of the line ticket and when you go to an attraction you get in a different line than the rest of the crowd. It's sort of like Disney's fast pass but you don't have to make reservations for a ride. They only sell so many a day so your assured the lines will be short. The time we used them at Universal I never waited longer than 5 minutes in any line.

And actually if I ever get to Disney World again, I may just by three tickets each for my wife and I so we can get up to six fast passes at a time.

Amazing how some replies are always on the negative. Yes, WDW is getting expensive - but I love it there. Thanks for the information about the ticket prices rising again. I use MapleLeaf for purchasing tickets.

Just used the site I mentioned in my OP and bought 10 day, non-expiring park hopper passes. Comes out to less than $58/day. They always keep the park spotless, have many shows and rides that you can use, fireworks every night, and other great attractions. I think that what you get for under $58/day, it is a real bargain.

Is that $58/day figured per person so for husband & wife it would be $116/day? There's just the two of us so that wouldn't be too bad, considering the cheapest train ride from Durango, Co up to Silverton and back is $85 per person if I remember right from last summer, and the price goes up from there depending on what luxuries you want on the trip.

My parents used to take us to Disneyland back in the 60's (when it was allegedly cheap) and according to them the cost back then was a more significant hit to the budget than the cost is now.

x2 on that.

We were fairly well off (late 60s early 70s) but could never buy more than about the lowest ticket book. And when the tickets were gone we were done. Only rich people could afford more E tickets at the booth in the park.

Food was so expensive we would leave the park to go eat. (what a waste IMO)

Disney is still a great value. Just as easy to blow $100+ at minigolf, go-carts and arcade for the kids. And the place is a joke in comparison.

We enjoyed Disney World in the 70s even the early eighties.
Last times we went didn't enjoy it much at all. High cost to enter and then a maze of hot dog stands and other restaurants and shops for tee shirts and junk from China. I can't think of any new entertainments or rides, right now, from then to now.
Lots of groups with much discounted rates, from Argentina, Brazil, etc, mostly teenagers. Lots of German, Japanese, and Chinese and other groups as well as individuals. Loved to talk with them or try too.
Military and Retired get a break on tickets, but not Disabled Vets. Sometimes through MWR though.

Just returned home from our obligatory wedding anniversary trip to WDW, Fort Wilderness. Absolutely a wonderful place for us and will continue to go as long as we can. Well over a hundred visits so far and 39 years married with a bunch to follow.

When it comes to Disney, I take a to each his own approach. Been there twice, 1978 and 2000. Very different experience, had fun both times. Don't really need to go back.

The thing that makes me sad is kids who have been to Disney five times but never to Yellowstone.

Twenty years ago my almost-10-year-old son and I spent 10 days on the Sea of Cortez with friends on their 40-foot sailboat. We saw whales, manta rays jumping, the sea water glowing with bio-luminescence and more. On our way home we visited Disneyland which has maybe a dozen real things.

Guess which one he remembers.

JUST MY OPINION, but Floridians are some of the crankiest people on the planet. I say that as a Florida taxpayer and property owner and a frequent Florida visitor. If someone is from Florida and they don't like something I take it with a grain of salt because they don't like much and seem to complain A LOT.

Edit to say, if you are the happy exception, I apologize in advance, but surely you know of what I speak.
