Does the MW run?

I have a jura at home, but bought the Krups because of size and counter space available.

OK, well that settles it then. Your inverter must not be up to the task. Modern inverters are very efficient these days and the designs are much more like a PSW inverter then even 3 years ago. Advances in control circuitry and magnetics, etc.

But perhaps the manufacturer pinched pennies on yours. Assuming that it's wattage is sufficient. I just checked the wattage for several Krups coffee makers and they run around 1100 Watts. If your inverter is an 1800 watt (120Vac @ 15Amp) that could cause some problems with your espresso maker. Does it have a wattage label on it?

On edit: Just found that the Krups could be a 1450 watt. That's for the Krups EA-8250 model.

A;ways prefer a PSW if available, you will be more happy with it for other devices as well, the only downfall is the cost.. enjoy

That is the krups I have so at that wattage, it must be too much for the inverter I have.
Would like to change to Magnum 2800 but not sure about how it will fit and heard mine has 8 wire to control panel and magnum uses 4 wire.
Can't believe mine doesn't have anymore than just on/off button in coach.
Will contact Tiffin today to make sure changing won't affect my warranty and if they require a tiffin dealer to do change out to keep warranty intact..........Good thing I found this before we took it out,
I would be a really unhappy camper sitting in the woods at 5am with no coffee.

The thing is that conditions have to be right to draw 1450 watts for very long. Ambient temperature, waste heat removal from the inverter, cable size, number & size of batteries, etc. Even if you switched to an 1800W PSW inverter, if conditions weren't just right, it might still shut down occasionally while using the Krups.

And the fact that your inverter won't even turn on the Krups now suggests your problem is more then just MSW vs. PSW. More then likely, the manufacturer cut corners where ever they could to reduce their costs. So if you're going to try a new 1800W PSW, make sure you can return it if it doesn't do the job. (Yes, the problem could be the control circuit in the Krups and a PSW inverter might allow it to work).

If you're going with a 2400 Watt inverter, that's going to be a bigger case size...will it fit in the space? Will the battery cables be big enough? Is it going to be mounted in a big enough space to shed waste heat? Is the kitchen circuit it's routed to a 20 Amp branch? Do you have enough battery capacity?

The other thing I was thinking about is that you have a genset...why not use that to brew your coffee, and switch to the inverter after it's finished and it's just warming? Keep in mind that 1450 Watts is 12 Amp from your 120V AC line. You wouldn't want to run much else on that circuit at the same time. This isn't like a modern S&B home where there are several breakers servicing the kitchen.

Good luck, and let us know how it all works out!

Just discovered today the I have a Magnum ME2012 MSW inverter, so I'm hoping the MS2812 will fit right where the 2012 is without a lot of headaches.
Figure I will sell 2012 on Ebay since it's only 2 weeks old and recoup some of my cost for 2812.
Things are looking up.I hope..........

Read the manual to verify you do not need larger 12 cables and fuse.
Are the remote panels compatible? Or easy swap using same control cable?
Otherwise for more direct swap why not a MS2012?

Just ordered new MS2812 from Amazon(didn't even know they sold them) so will have to read directions when it comes and make sure about wiring before installing. Also ordered controller as I don't have one now.
Getting closer to have my Krup's espresso coffee in the mornings on the inverter and no disturbing neighbors while camping with generator.

They are both spec'ed for 4/0 battery cable but you know how manufacturers have been cutting corners, so be sure to check the wire size.

The output is 20Amp AC. Your old unit was 15Amp AC, so the house wire size may be 14ga instead of 12ga. Keep the old breaker, you can't just change it to 20Amp.

Sounds like a fun project.
