We (two couples, four kids, two RVs) are planning on overnighting in the Mississippi area. We are considering east Louisiana, Bay St.Louis, Gulfport, or Biloxi off of I-10, maybe as far out as Mobile, AL.
I am concerned with being able to get a jump start the next morning on our way to Orlando, but want a general nice area close to restaurants, fuel, etc. for that evening.
From rvparkreviews, my first thoughts are Cajun RV, Majestic Oaks, Oak Lawn in Biloxi. Hollywood Casino RV in Bay St. Louis, New Orleans KOA in this order. Am I on the right track or could I use some help?
Sincerely appreciate your thoughts.

I stayed at Southern Oaks RV and Mobile Home Park in Gulfport. Owned by a retired US Navy Sea Bee. Nice sites. Nice people. About 3 miles off I-10, no hwy noise, close to shopping and restaurants.

I don't know how this location will be for you but Lakeside RV Park in Livingston, LA is off I-12. We stayed there in February on our way to TX from Panama City, FL. The sites are all paved concrete and the bathrooms are the cleanest and nicest I've seen. I can't recommend Lakeside high enough. They are PA affiliated and we paid $15.00. Check out their website lakeside-rvpark.com

I don't know if I would take I-10 through New Orleans. I-12 bypasses New Orleans and would probably save you time. How easy it is to cross NO depends on the hour.
The other issue is Baton Rouge. Traffic in BR is a nightmare.
Traffic in BR is usually heavy, but if you stay in the second lane from the center barricade all the way thru, either direction, you will have no problems. Hollywood Casino in BSL is a nice cg, large paved sites. Shuttle to the casino, used ot have a great buffet - haven't been there since it was rebuilt after huricane.

Ditto the I-12 suggestion. It's a little shorter and definitely faster (usually). You will also bypass some road construction on I-10 just outside of Baton Rouge.
By all means take I-12 from Baton Rouge to Slidell vs. the N.O. route, shorter and much quicker. There'll be construction w/ lane changes and narrow lanes thru Denham Springs to Walker then clear sailing.
Your time schedule seems pretty agressive, 2 looong days with kids. 1st big hurdel is getting thru Houston ahead of or behind AM traffic. If the latter you could have trouble with the Baton Rouge traffic.

Cajun RV Park in Biloxi is a very nice park. The beach is just across Hwy 90. I recommend Snapper's Seafood Restaurant for good seafood.

A wealth of information from all of you. Thank you. We are considering changing up our plans some and drive to just east of Houston the night before. As MCDDY noted, it is bit aggressive with kids. Possibly "Houston East Rv Park" since right off of I-10 and seems to have pull thrus and then get a fresh start from there.
And thank you for the construction, Baton Rouge traffic, and I-12 tips.
