I don't think it is all anout us, our kids are not disrespectful, encouraged to be disrespectful, or left unattended at the campground (really?). We are just a big family out to enjoy our time together camping. No offense intended to anyone who has kids, doesn't have kids, likes kids, doesn't like kids, or ever was once a kid - however long ago that may have been.
Ha! I laughed at your original post when I read. I was a kid. I know kids, I know people with kids, the world has a LOT of them... SOMETIME we have to deal with that! In truth, I love the sounds of happy children, but as a person without kids I probably would have that funny perspective you described seeing 5 of them pouring out of a van next to me. The imagination runs wild! It's all good!

A year ago last fall, almost our entire family (I think there were 25 or so of us) went camping at Ludington State Park. I felt bad for the lone camper who shared our "section" because even though our grandkids are relatively well-behaved - they really have fun playing with each other and playing means noisy. But the lone camper had a sweet little girl of 6 or 7, and she played with my grandkids and had fun; and we even took her along (with permission) on a few of our hikes.
On Sunday, as everyone was packing up, the Grandma from the campsite came over and asked if we were coming back next year? Fearing a tongue-lashing for being so boisterous - I said "probably not"... Her reply? "Darn. We wanted to camp with YOU guys again!"
So yes - some people will love you and some people will move. If people didn't want to be around kids - they shouldn't camp at the beach!

I loved this response!!!
Why? What kind of attitude is that?
BINGO!
I really have to wonder about the OP and his children. One RV quietly moved one space over from his RV, reasons unknown, yet a thread was begun to report the "event", and the thread is (on my computer) now three pages long. I really don't get it.

What do you wonder about the OP? The OP wrote their post with humor in mind, not REALLY calling into question the motives of the other RV owner, just "supposing" with some tongue in cheek. We're all left to our own interpretations, and that's all this thread is, without direct information from the other RV owner. And one thought leads to another thought and a thread takes on a different track that the OP intended - it's a "free" country for a little longer.
So...
What do you wonder about regarding the OP and his children? What's to get or not get?

Happy Camping!
I agree. Sure, there are a lot of grumpy old people in the world. But there are far more non-grumpy old people and they are an absolute joy to spend time with along with the kids or grandkids. For those that are grumpy, their bad attitudes only make themselves miserable. I certainly won't let them ruin my fun - or that of my grandbabies.

We had to endure a weekend of this at Santos CG near Ocala FL two years ago. That was the last time we'll ever camp there unless we know for sure there will be no boyscout troops camping at the time. Not only did they use whistles and scream and argue constantly, but the troop leader and other adults with the kids screamed and yelled at them constantly. Had we not paid in advance, we would have left.

Those who want peace and quiet and who want to get away from it all can find over 55 CGs where everyone else is a senior and looking for the same things. Also, there are places people don't go with kids because there is nothing for the kids to do. As people camp and ask around, they learn where these places are.
If we still had small kids we would look for family CGs, and not choose those aimed at seniors and the childless looking to enjoy nature, peace and serenity.

I'm not against our older generation at all. In fact, I enjoy the company of most. When my kids get "the look", I smile instead of getting angry because I like to teach my kids, as i was taught, that sometimes people are different in their own, funny ways and that's ok. If I get looks from ANYONE, I really don't care. I'm there to have fun with my family, while respecting the privacy of others, and that's what matters most to me.
Have a great summer!

The concern that I have with this perspective is that you appear to conclude that any "look" you or your kids get is an issue with the ones giving the "look". Have you not considered that perhaps the reason you're getting the "look" is that you're not being as respectful of the privacy of others as you think?
Campgrounds are certainly places for enjoyment, but they're also about relaxation. Both goals have a right to co-exist. I think what some here lose patience with is parents with a "kids will be kids" attitude that has lost touch with what being respectful of others really is. I am not an old curmudgeon; I am a parent, and I certainly want kids to enjoy camping. But as with all things, our "freedom" is limited by the extent to which exercising our freedom interferes with the freedom and rights of others. If I don't teach my daughter this, I'll have failed in my job as a parent.
I am also a teacher, and I see firsthand how America's kids are being taught less and less respect and courtesy, and it's frustrating. This thread just reminds me of how that's become a hot button issue for many, and their patience is wearing thin.
