I usually dont comment on poor experiences with businesses because I know everyone has bad days on occasion but during a recent trip to Florida I feel my Dad was taken advantage of at the Camping World in Chattanooga TN. Basically he pulled into a rest area to eat lunch and when pulling back onto the highway his 34' class A V-10 began to shudder under acceleration. To make a long story short he called Camping World and asked if they could fit him in the schedule that day. The following items were replaced after 5 days of run around and poor service.
all new brakes, u joints, driveshafts sent out for balance, "special" tune up, balanced tires and the list goes on and on. He was sent packing after a $5,000 dollar service bill and had to limp to another facility after the problem was not fixed. It runed out to be a bad coil pack on the engine. MOst mechanics would realize this was an engine or trans issue, just as the second repair facility did. Camping World did offer to pay for the second repair but to me the $5000 dollar repairs were simply a huge rip off and took advantage of someone stuck far from home. Beware.

I would never go to an RV repair for a drive train problem. Just as I would never go to a mechanic for a non mechanical repair. RV repair shops very often do not know their limitations and get in way over their heads. I think CW screwed you big time.

Without knowing the age, make, and mileage of the MH it's a little unfair to claim Camping World riped the owner off. Especially if the maintenance has not been kept up on the rig and if it has sit for long periods. A shudder under acceleration can be caused by the problem they worked on and if the parts were worn then they needed to be replaced. A bad coil pack is not some thing that goes out very often with today's electronics.

Oh, come on now. You don't just start replacing things at random until you empty the customers bank account. At least a reputable place doesn't. It sounds like the next thing they would have done is replace his microwave, and then maybe go on to reupholster his driver and passenger seats! If a "repair facility" doesn't know how to fix an RV, they should refer him to someplace that can. It's interesting that the next place he went to found the problem right off. This was ridiculous, and they should be ashamed for ripping him off.....and yes, they ripped him off! And I agree with posting it on RVservicereviews.com as well.

MichDoc are you or anyone on here making comments a certified truck mechanic. In my 35 years of RV I've had the shudder under acceleration on a 79 Dodge Winnie Brave caused by bad u-joints but also changed the mid-ship bearing and had drive shafts balance. You may never of had rust calipers from sitting and the problems this causes. We were not there, did not see the parts that were replaced, and only getting second hand information so we can not say if it was a rip off without knowing the condition of the RV in question. From my experience with cars when a coil goes bad they are dead not intermittent.
Some many members on here are so quick to condemn repair shops without know the whole story. There are also a few members who always have to put down Good Sam and Camping World every chance they get.
