Finally I have gotten around to posting my review of Castaways in Berlin, MD.
We went during Mothers Day weekend and had beautiful weather. The drive to and from was right to the minute as our navigation depicted- 3:45 from PA.
Anyway, from the second we pulled into the campground to the reluctant minute we left, we were nothing but impressed with Castaways.
We stayed in the 'private' Club Castaways section in spot 36B. First, I liked that I could pick my spot prior to arriving. Although in all actuality, all spots looked pretty nice. I can see how the big Class A's would probably be best suited in the Club section though. Our 25' could fit anywhere in the campground.
I would like to try the Island Oasis section sometime when the tiki bar is open. Those sites were shaded and the area had more of an overall 'fun feel' to it. I noticed later at night people were still having fun and kids were playing where the Club section was more quiet. We also noticed we were one of the few families with kids in the Club section. Not that this was a bad thing because everyone was very friendly in our section. We just noticed the Club section was a bit more veteran R.V.'er which was fun too watch in it's own right.
The campground was extremely clean and everyone there including fellow campers was extremely helpful and pleasant.
We took our lab and I must say he did great during our 3 day trip. There were plenty of places for him to use the bathroom and plenty of areas for a walk. The dog beach was also nice although we didn't want a wet Lab smelling RV, so we opted out.
We went to the pancake social which was good and rode the bus into OC Saturday night. The bus driver (forget his name-ugh) was funny and extremely helpful with any questions we had. He, along with other camp employees, really gave you that feeling of them wanting to make your trip the best it could be.
Next time we go we are going to travel with another couple and their boat. They will rent a water front bungalow. That way we can hop on their boat and head up to some dock bars being as how OC is only a mile or two north.
If I had to find a complaint (because I feel its my obligation to find one) it is that the tiki bar does not open until Memorial Day weekend. This does make sense. But, it would be nice if it would be open Fridays and Saturdays during off peak times so people such as myself can also enjoy a few mixed drinks.
Overall we were extremely pleased with this place and will try to fit it in our schedule to go back again late summer/early fall with friends that are very excited to see what the Castaways place that we always talk about is all about!

How many golf balls did you find. DW and dog would walk everyday and bring me home golf balls that made it over the net. I must half FIVE dozen by now. Almost filled my card at the course next door too!

Thanks for the review....I've heard nothing but good about the place
*Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - "WOW, What a ride!"
Love Castaways! Only complaint I could make with them is trying to get into the club section can be very difficult, we are going in july and couldnt get in for a weekend!
We have been there 2 times in the last couple years, love the resort and love the beach, well be missing it this year!
I see Castaways as being a place that will just keep getting better.
